Posters

The fliers used to advertise "Understanding Airplanes" became popular cubicle decoration at Boeing, so I thought I'd make them available here.

Prints of the following three posters can be purchased from FineArtAmerica.com. Each is available in a variety of sizes and formats, from postcards to large framed prints, as well as phone cases, mugs, tote bags, shower curtains, throw pillows, etc.

Books

I have multiple books in the works (see below) but only one published so far:
My first book is about the latest and most futuristic advancements in aviation technology. It covers the latest technologies to be introduced into airplanes, as well as prototypes currently being built and test-flown, and also concepts being studied for the future. This was the kind of stuff that got me really excited about airplanes when I was a teenager, so I'm just trying to pay that forward :]

I wrote it for students: The objective of the book is to get younger kids (ages 10 to 16) interested in STEM in general, and in aeronautical engineering in particular... and to guide older kids (ages 17 to 22) towards the most interesting and innovative work in the industry.

The book is full of large, exciting photos of recent prototypes, and computer-generated images of concepts that have not yet flown. They all incorporate creative ideas into their design. The book describes, in simple language, the pros and cons of these design concepts: electric airplanes, solar power, blended wing bodies, flying wings, supersonic transports, scramjets, canards, electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing "flying cars", UAVs, and reusable rockets - including airplanes that can fly to space and back.

The book is called "You Could Design the Airplanes of the Future".

If you'd like to get your hands on the book, you have a few options:

In-Work

I am currently working on a book that includes all of the content from my "Understanding Airplanes" course. Summarizing all of aeronautical engineering into a single book is not easy, and is taking a long time. I hope to be done before the end of 2020, but, no promises!

Other books coming... sometime next year or the year after that...
• A collection of some of my favorite airshow photographs which I have shot over the years, and stories about them.
• Record-breaking airplanes: The largest, smallest, fastest, etc. Interesting especially for contended titles where there are "official" and "unofficial" records (e.g. X-15) and where things like "largest" can be defined differently (i.e. weight or wingspan).
• A book about aviation history, maybe talking about 50 airplanes that each made major progress and/or defined their era.
• Aviation accidents that changed history; Basically a summarized and easy-to-understand version of the highlights from the FAA's excellent 'Lessons Learned' website.
• "Airplane Design - Frequently Asked Questions", a book that contains some highlights from "Understanding Airplanes", similar content to my "Airplane Design for Non-Engineers" presentation.
